Europe’s Tech Defense Giant Helsing Raises $1.8 Billion at $18 Billion Valuation

Investor confidence in defense technology is reaching new heights. German startup Helsing has raised another massive funding round, strengthening its position as Europe’s most valuable defense AI company as governments increase spending on military technology.

German defense technology startup Helsing has raised $1.8 billion in a Series E funding round, pushing its valuation to $18 billion. The deal makes Helsing the highest-funded defense technology startup in Europe. The funding round was led by Dragoneer Investment Group, with participation from existing investor Lightspeed Venture Partners.

The fresh capital will help Helsing accelerate the development of AI-powered defense systems, autonomous drones and advanced military software for European governments. Founded in 2021, Helsing has grown rapidly as Europe increases investment in defense technology.

The company develops artificial intelligence software that helps military forces analyse battlefield data, improve surveillance and support decision-making. It also manufactures autonomous drones and underwater defense systems. The latest funding reflects growing investor interest in defense AI.

Rising geopolitical tensions and increased military spending across Europe have created strong demand for technologies that combine artificial intelligence with modern defense capabilities. Helsing has expanded its partnerships in recent years.

The company works with several European defense organisations and has supplied AI-enabled technologies to support Ukraine while developing next-generation military systems for NATO allies. The new valuation places Helsing among Europe’s most valuable private technology companies.

It also highlights how defense startups are attracting larger investments as governments prioritise national security and technological independence. The funding comes just weeks after U.S. defense startup Anduril reached a $61 billion valuation, showing that investors are pouring record amounts into AI-powered defense companies on both sides of the Atlantic.

Defense technology is no longer a niche sector. Artificial intelligence is becoming a core part of modern military strategy, and investors are following that shift with unprecedented levels of funding.

Helsing’s latest raise shows that the global race for AI leadership is no longer limited to consumer apps and chatbots. It is increasingly being fought through the technologies shaping the future of national security.
