DStv, GOtv Subscribers Face New Package Line-Up From November 5

DStv, GOtv Introduce Eight New Packages as MultiChoice Overhauls Subscriptions

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a major overhaul of its DStv and GOtv subscription packages, introducing eight new plans from November 5, 2026, as the pay-TV operator seeks to simplify its offerings and respond to changing viewing habits.

Under the new arrangement, DStv will have four packages: Starter, Select, Sports and Premium — while GOtv subscribers will choose from Easy, Starter, Select and Sports.

The company unveiled the new line-up on Tuesday, October 27, during a media briefing where it also introduced its new DStv Expect More offering. The restructuring represents one of its biggest product changes since it became part of French broadcasting giant CANAL+.

The new packages are expected to give subscribers more options for accessing entertainment and sports content while making it easier to identify plans that suit their viewing preferences and budgets.

Speaking during the unveiling, MultiChoice Nigeria Chief Executive Officer, Kemi Omotosho, said the changes followed a wider review of the company’s business strategy as audiences increasingly consume content across different platforms.

She noted that viewing habits had changed significantly, with more consumers watching entertainment on smartphones, smart TVs, tablets and streaming services rather than relying solely on traditional television.

“We have overhauled the entire strategy of the business. And what we’re telling you today is just one piece of that strategy,” Omotosho said.

According to her, the company recognised that its existing subscription structure had become unnecessarily complicated, with the number of available packages making it difficult for customers to remember their plans or determine which option best suited their needs.

“We think we have too many packs today. If I ask anyone here what pack they are on, maybe five out of seven might remember, but two might not remember because there are just too many packs,” she added.

The revised structure is intended to address that problem by reducing the number of package options and giving subscribers a clearer path to choosing their preferred entertainment services.

MultiChoice said the restructuring is built around three key priorities: simplicity, better value for money and greater customer choice.

The company is also seeking to strengthen its appeal in a market where consumers are becoming more selective about subscription spending and increasingly have alternatives for watching films, television programmes and live sports.

The shift comes as traditional pay-TV operators face pressure to adapt to changing consumer expectations, including demand for flexible viewing options and packages that offer a clearer balance between content and subscription costs.

However, MultiChoice has yet to provide a detailed breakdown in the announcement of the channels included in each of
