Uzbektelecom has launched two Tier III-certified data centres in Bukhara and Kokand as part of efforts to expand Uzbekistan’s cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The new facilities, located more than 300 kilometres from the capital, Tashkent, will operate under the company’s UzCloud platform and provide cloud and remote computing services to businesses and other users.

The data centres offer infrastructure-as-a-service, software hosting, S3 object storage, platform tools and automated backup services.

According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies, the facilities are equipped with dedicated graphics processing unit servers designed to support artificial intelligence and machine-learning workloads, video analytics and digital-twin applications.

The new sites are connected to Uzbektelecom’s backbone network and the TAS-IX national internet exchange, allowing them to provide computing and data services to businesses outside the capital.

The decentralised infrastructure is also expected to strengthen disaster recovery capabilities by providing additional data storage and processing locations away from Tashkent.

Uzbektelecom said the facilities will allow technology companies and other businesses to deploy digital products and services without having to invest heavily in their own computing infrastructure.

The company’s advanced development and investment projects department director, Umar Izbasarov, said the infrastructure would support businesses seeking to deploy software products without the cost of purchasing and maintaining their own hardware.

The launch brings the number of operational data centres under the company’s current programme to four.

Uzbektelecom is also developing a fifth Tier III-certified facility in Zangiata district in the Tashkent region, which is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2026.

The upcoming facility is expected to include an all-photonic network pilot based on Japan’s Innovative Optical and Wireless Network architecture.

The project is being developed with Toyota Tsusho, NTT Docomo Business and NEC as Uzbekistan expands its domestic digital infrastructure and cloud computing capacity.
